Sharing & Caring Thanksgiving
November 21, 2020 was an amazing day of sharing and caring! Our fantastic Shepherds helped us raise enough money to buy 126 Cub gift cards (75.00 in value) to hand out to anyone in need of a Thanksgiving Dinner or food for their families. We were honored to go out to three Cub Locations: North Mpls, South Mpls & St. Paul to hand out your gift to so many. We also found a new encampment that we were able to give your gift too while we were in St. Paul, MN.
We were welcomed by so many thankful recipients on this day. We were first met with a lot of “ are you kidding, is this real?” “What is the catch?”, “What do I have to sign up for?” When we explained our non profit and the many generous people whom gifted this to them with NO STRINGS ATTACHED it brought many smiles and tears. There were so many life stories that they shared:
A grandmother whom had a list in her hand and had to make a hard choice on what items she actually was going to be able to buy that day until she received YOUR gift!.
A man who woke up and went to his cupboards just that morning and found he had nothing left, until he received YOUR gift!
A mother whom lost her EBS card a few days earlier and did not know how she was going to get by, until she received YOUR gift!
A family that lost their jobs during Covid with no relief and enough to by some bread and lunchmeat, until they received YOUR gift!
The many stories and heartfelt gratitude for all of you that helped with this project went on thru the last card that was handed out.
A twitter friend on this day stated: “We are the gas and you are the car”. It was a statement of how we work together to make a difference one person at a time. Something we are blessed and honored to be apart of with all of you.
